Bringing awareness to clean energy, this original 1940’s Allan Herschel Carousel was the first fully solar-powered carousel ever built. Purchased, deconstructed, and then fully repainted and rebuilt by the Art Seen Alliance team, the carousel was first displayed in downtown Austin for SXSW to showcase General Electrics new solar panels and LED lighting. GE’s solar panels flanked the carousel in order to provide power to the carousel itself, along with lighting throughout.
